We organized an Urban Workshop in Elazığ on May 18th where many institutions and organizations related to the topic were invited.
Within the scope of the Elazığ Urban Transformation Strategy Paperwork, which KEYM started to work as of the beginning of 2016, more than 120 guests attended the workshop which aims to explain the aims and targets of the project and the participants' contributions and the first steps of city vision. Elazig Governor Murat Zorluoglu, Elazig Mayor Mr. Mucahit Yanılmaz, General Director of Infrastructure and Urban Transformation Services of the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning Mr. Vedad Gürgen and Elazığ Provincial Director of Environment and Urbanism Sayın Abdulkadir Kandemir made their opening speeches in the workshop. Murat Zorluoglu, Mücahit Yanılmaz, Vedad Gürgen and Abdulkadir Kandemir underlined that they gave great importance to this project, which was pioneered by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanism and implemented by KEYM.
KEYM Chairman Cem Yılmaz explained that this study aims to fill the gap between Strategy and Implementation, which is increasingly clear in Turkey, especially in Urban Transformation, and that it is not desired to produce a project that will not be implemented. He stated that this and the following workshops would take the views of all the participants and that they wanted to co-create the vision of Elazığ.
Subsequently, a presentation was made by KEYM, which outlined the work to be done with the summary of the point reached in the study, and the ideas, suggestions and questions of the participants were taken.
